On Books and Manifesting

We gravitate towards and pick up books for a reason.  Whether or not we associate our reading habits with what we are manifesting into our lives or not, we are always manifesting.  Books occupy our thoughts and evoke emotions, and in doing so they change our vibrations.  These are the basic ingredients required for manifesting. Understanding what a book is doing in our life by tracking our emotions is crucial to using books as a manifesting tool. Books are either inspiring us and aligning us to the high emotions that attract more of what we want into our lives, or they are showing us our blocks, the things embedded in our subconscious like deeply enmeshed belief systems, or emotions preventing us from attracting what we want.  If we recognize that books can be powerful tools to help us in our  manifesting lives, readers who love to read can use their hobby as a lens, to approach reading with eyes open and to notice how the words on a page affect our vibration, and in turn what is coming into or leaving our lives.

Many people read self help books because they know what they want to bring into their lives and self-help books tell them how to do it.  It is pretty straight forward.  If I want to learn how to eat better to be healthier and gain control over my blood sugar there is a book for that. But people also read simply because they are readers.  They like to read.  I am a reader who often reads upwards to 4-5 books at a time.  I have a book in the bathroom, a book in the kitchen, a book in the bedroom, a book in my purse. I have always been this way and the books are usually a mix of non fiction, how to, and fiction.  I never paid much attention to what they could be attracting into my life.  I read simply for the pleasure of reading.  But I have noticed that my book choices always feel so timely and like no matter what I read there is some gift of much needed wisdom, laughter, tenderness, or even just a bad-ass character to look up to. I wonder how I am subconsciously applying these gifts and what else they are bringing me?

Abraham Hicks claims we are always manifesting, we are always attracting things into our lives because we are always thinking and feeling. This means we are the creators of our own worlds, and lives and whether we like what is happening in our lives or not, we brought it here with our thoughts and feelings. Most of us want to have more of what we want and less of what we don’t want.  We have goals and dreams and we want to reach them which is why the Law of Attraction as a literary genre is soaring in popularity in today’s book market.

According to Petri Maatta, a UK based life coach, his website Dreammaker boasts of some interesting facts regarding the popularity of the subject of the law of Attraction.  Dreammaker states, “ In the 1990’s only 2% of adults believed in the law of attraction, but today that percentage has grown to 73% of the world's population. Since the book The Secret was released in 2006 the global law of attraction industry has shown growth rates ranging from 6-11%..a $15 billion dollar niche that has over a billion people hungry to learn about the secrets that could gain their success in one way or another.”

Many people are familiar with, have tried and or believe in the law of attraction, but despite the simplicity of this universal law; that like attracts like means in order to get more of what you want just think about it more is not so easy. Clearly our own humanity makes it more complicated. What I am trying to do with the Manifesting Lense and these blogs is to help myself; one of the manifestors who tries to manifest my intentions into my life but I don’t always see the results I desire.

Books are marvels of revelation.  In addition to telling us how to get what we want like in self-help books they can take us on amazing adventures, thrill us, introduce us to new people who we can fall in love with, and also offer us an opportunity for deep reflection and introspection.  If I am trying to manifest something and doing all the steps to make it happen but it’s simply not coming it is important to examine the following questions.  What am I doing with my time? What movies am I watching? What podcasts am I listening to? What am I eating and drinking? What are my conversations about?  And what am I READING? It’s all relevant.

Whatever is there in my life, it’s there because I called it there and therefore it is useful to pay attention to it. Am I spending time on social media? What or who am I following?  Am I hanging out with a certain group of  friends?  What are my conversations and emotions with these people? Everything in my life is contributing to what I am and am not manifesting. My expertise as a High School English teacher for 20 years is books. Examining books and using books as tools is a passion for me. So consider this process transferable.  If a book can be a tool, then a podcast and a movie, and a weekly softball game can also be a tool. All it really comes down to is if our thoughts and emotions and vibrations are in alignment with what we want, or if they are blocking what we want from coming into our lives.

So if you are a reader who loves to read, if you are like me and you have your books in every room and you are currently reading all of them at the same time, and if you are like me and you believe in the law of attraction, this blog will be of interest.  Bibliosouls is a blog about the books I read, and how I have been developing a reading process I call  “The Manifesting Lens” as a tool to use my hobby as my biggest insight into my own vibration, and a mirror to help me manifest more of what I want in my life.
